I feel under appreciated, overworked and desperately seeking balance in my life.
I need to change something, but I do not know where to start or how to find the time.
As a spa owner, esthetician, health coach, wife, and mother to two daughters, I understand the challenges of juggling multiple roles while striving to maintain personal fulfillment. Despite the joy of serving others, I often needed to pay more attention to my priorities and life direction.
It wasn't until I carved out a weekend retreat for myself that I began to unravel the layers and rediscover my true essence. Was it hard to leave my responsibilities and go somewhere alone to an unfamiliar place? Oh, yes, it was! I felt uncomfortable checking into an Airbnb and spending long, quiet hours alone.
But as I got comfortable in my surroundings, I became very involved in writing. I started journaling about my past, upbringing, family, and relationships. I wrote about the choices that I had made so far and what direction those choices had given me. My early memories started to come back, and it was beautiful to feel connected to the little girl I once was.
Allowing my past pains to surface was hard initially, but it left me feeling lighter, and a weight fell off my shoulders.
I had brought healthy meals and snacks, so I didn't have to search for a restaurant. I enjoyed eating in silence, being extremely mindful of my body. Going for a brisk walk on the last morning was exhilarating! My whole body felt re-energized, and I felt amazing! It was freezing as it was January, and I stayed in Maine; the ocean was gorgeous!
I gained such clarity and a renewed sense of purpose during my solo retreat by simply allowing my pen to flow, listening to music to support my memories, taking a bath, stretching and meditating. I did not even feel guilty about the time off I had taken! It felt so good!
